Female rhinoplasty – two distinct techniques

A nose job for women can be performed with two different basic approaches:

  • Open rhinoplasty: This approach allows our facial plastic surgeon full access to the nose structure. An incision is placed at the base of the columella, the strip of tissue between your nostrils. Through this incision, the bones and cartilage of the nose can be reshaped, and grafting can be performed to add height to the nose bridge when needed.
  • Closed rhinoplasty: Some nose shape issues can be treated with a closed technique, in which the changes are made through the nostrils. As no incisions are made on the skin, it is essentially a scarless procedure but is only appropriate for less extensive nose restructuring.
