• Asian rhinoplasty: People with an Asian background may have inherited thicker skin, a flatter nose bridge, and a rounded or bulbous nose tip. The surgery is 100 percent customized and may involve adding height to the nose bridge and narrowing and refining the nose tip.
  • Middle eastern rhinoplasty: Some of the characteristics of people of middle eastern descent can include a hump on the nose bridge, a large, hanging nose tip, a wide or bulbous tip, thicker skin, or a long, drooping nose appearance. A middle-eastern rhinoplasty refines the nose shape to be balanced, attractive, and enhance your other facial features.
  • African American rhinoplasty: People of African American descent often inherit a lower, wider nose bridge, wide rounded nostrils, and nose tip. The nose structure can be refined to be more sculpted, less prominent, and perfectly balanced with your other features.
  • Hispanic rhinoplasty: Every person of Latin descent has inherited a unique nose structure. Some may have a higher nose bridge, a flatter nose tip, or wide nostrils. Every nose reshaping surgery is customized for the individual and is geared to create the most attractive balance between your features for a more refined, elegant look.

Enhance your best features with an ethnic rhinoplasty.

The first step in your ethnic rhinoplasty is to meet with you and discuss the changes you envision for your nose. You will be able to “try on” various changes with a 3D digital image of your face. Dr. Harbison is among the most highly educated facial plastic surgeons in the Omaha area, and your surgery will be customized just for you. With the help of 3D imaging, he will work closely with you to help you have the nose shape that will enhance your entire facial appearance and structure.

The procedure will vary based on the changes that are needed. Cartilage and bone may be reshaped, and in some cases, grafts can add height to the nose bridge. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia at our onsite accredited surgical facility, which is equipped with the most advanced patient health and safety systems. The surgery will require several hours to complete, but you will not be uncomfortable or experience any pain as you will be under anesthesia.

Your recovery – what to expect?

After your surgery is complete, you can return home to rest and recover under the care of another adult. You will need to sleep with your head elevated and avoid bending, lifting, or other more vigorous physical movements. The first week, your nose will feel “plugged,” and you must not blow your nose. You may have splints, a cast, or splints within the nose itself. We will follow up with you to ensure healing is proceeding well and remove any stitches in about one week.

Your recovery will take some time. Most people feel well enough to return to work within about a week to ten days. You should feel ready to return to social engagements in about two to three weeks, with confidence in your new look!
